The artist vs. the medium in a boxing match.

* My dream exhibition of this work would be a 1:1 life-size projection on a wall. The wall would be the exact dimensions of the image, terminating at 90° corners that complete a room or a gallery section, enclosing most angles from which the video can be viewed. Such a presentation would maximize the seasickness effect of the shaky-cam, lending visceral hurt to the audience with every punch. An advantage of my inability to fully realize my architectural ambitions in earlier presentations was the freedom it allowed to showcase, alongside the video, the double-ended boxing device / camera cage I built with my friend Yarden Colsey. I am very proud of this apparatus, and when exhibited—especially in motion—it answered audience questions about how the camera movement in the video was achieved, making clear that it was driven by real reactions to real force.
